Week8 PartA

I feel like with the type of business I plan on starting that visual media would work great because people like to visually see what kind of products you are promoting. Being able to visually see how the products look give consumers a good visual expectation of your products and entices potential consumers. A company called Origins is a well known company with a big platform of followers consisting of 566,00. This company is similar to what my future business will someday be, they supposedly have all-natural products. Since they are a well known company, on their Instagram they don't use hashtags as much maybe one or two hashtags, the main hashtag that they always use is #DiscoverOrigins. They only get maybe 5% likes from the large amount of followers they do have and it looks like they post everyday. They mainly post small movement videos and since the videos on Instagram are based on views they get a lot of views on those videos. The likes they get that are not on the videos but a regular post is roughly 680 likes and most of the comments they receive are on those videos they post which is roughly 186. What they are doing is posting everyday which is something I could do on this use of media that could help me improve my usage.

California Pure Naturals is located in Santa Ana and is the only shop closest to me I could find that's similar to what business I want to start. On Instagram they have a medium platform of followers of 52,000 and it does not seem that Instagram is effective for them because the most like they got on one of their posts was 48. It does look like they post almost everyday with a few gaps between but not many gaps in their posts. The content that seems to get the most response is when they post a model posing with their products but they do not receive many comments maybe one or two comments at most. Their last post was made four hours ago and they probably get about a 1% response from their followers considering the amount of likes they usually get which is 11 compared to the amount of followers they have. They use a large amount of hashtags like; #selfcare, #crueltyfree, and #veganskincare. What they are doing that I could possibly do to improve my use of Instagram is hire somebody to model with my products.

Purple Fox Wax Company is the only local business I can find with her natural products which is mainly wax melts but she does small things like chap-stick and linen spray. She's a small business so it does seem like Instagram is effective for her because she does have 2,070 followers. But on her posts she does not use any hashtags and she does not post that much because she is a student and works as well so she posts when it is time for people to preorder products. She mainly posts an image with writing when it is time to order items or when it is that last day to order but the content that does get the most likes are when she does post her products on there which is 28 likes. Her last post was three days ago and it looks like maybe 5% of her followers respond to her posts which is about 10 likes. Since she gets a low amount of likes she also gets a low amount of comments as well which is roughly three at the most.

Clinique is a very popular and well known brand so, any kind of social media would work for them because everybody knows Clinique. They use a few hashtags like; #Clinique, #beauty, and #skincare and they also have 3.3 million followers. They post everyday and the content that they post that gets the most response would be their videos showing the products. Their last post was nine hours ago and they roughly get maybe a quarter of their followers to respond to their posts which could roughly be 21,000 likes. Their comments they receive is quite low compared to the amount of followers they have, the comments they do receive is roughly 111. Well, since they are a huge company what they are doing that I could do to possibly help me using Instagram is posting short videos of my products.

From doing this research I learned that no matter the size of the company you can find what works best for you to get a response from your audience. I also learned that videos seem to be the main posts that gets the most likes compared to just a picture. By keeping an eye on your account you can find your "groove" to what is working and what is not working for your posts. The hashtags I think might work well for my business are; #allnatural, #skincare, #sydneysapothecary, #homemade, and I would do a hashtag of my location.
